DIOCESAN COMMISSION FOR SACRED LITURGY
Christ is always present in his Church, especially in her liturgical celebrations. He is present in the Holy Eucharist, in the other Sacraments,
in His word since it is He Himself who speaks when the Holy Scriptures are read in the Church and He is present when the Church prays and
sings. The Liturgy then is rightly seen as an exercise of the, priestly office of Jesus Christ. It involves the presentation of men's sanctification
under the guise of signs perceptible by the senses. In it, full public worship is performed by the Mystical Body of Jesus Christ, that is, by the
Head and his members. From this it follows that every liturgical celebration, because it is an action of Christ, the Priest and his Body, which
is the Church, is a sacred action surpassing all others. No other action of the Church can equal its efficacy by the same title and to the same
degree [Cfr. Sacred Liturgy,No.7, Vat.II, Vol.11.
Mother Church earnestly desires that all the faithful should be led to the full, conscious and active participation in liturgical celebrations which
is demanded by the very nature of the liturgy, and to which the Christian people have a right and obligation by reason of their baptism [Cfr.
Sacred Liturgy, No.14, Vat.II, Vol. 1].
In the restoration and promotion of the Sacred Liturgy the full and active participation by all the people is the aim to be considered before all
else, for it is the primary and indispensable source from which the faithful are to derive the true Christian Spirit. Therefore, in all their
apostolic activity, pastors of souls should energetically set about achieving it through the requisite pedagogy [Cfr. Sacred Liturgy, No.14,
Vat.II, Vol. 1] .
In view of the aim, norms and instructions given in The Constitution on Sacred Liturgy', the plan on the Sacred Liturgy in the Diocese of
Belgaum is evolved
